Types of Skin Problems

The treatment of the skin problems usually depends on the severity of the problem itself. There are many different skin disorders, and they all require their own special treatments. There are so many different ways to treat skin problems that it is definitely a good idea to see a doctor to figure out just exactly what that skin problem may be before attempting any at home treatment.

Types of Skin Problems: Dermatitis is the inflammation of the skin. The most common type of dermatitis is eczema. Eczema makes the skin very itchy and it causes it to become red and crusty. Eczema or dermatitis is one of the most common types of skin problems in children. Most children who suffer from dermatitis have atopic eczema which usually shows up on the face, back of the neck or knees, or the inner side of the arms. In many cases, atopic eczema in children can be treated with the use of bacetracin or Neosporin ointment which will soothe and moisten the dry and cracking skin.

Types of Skin Problems: Allergic reactions are another dermatitis type of skin problem. Allergic reactions either from medications, foods, or poison ivy will cause skin problems from itching, flaking, oozing, or just being red and crusty just like eczema. Most skin problems that are associated with an allergic reaction can be treated by staying away from whatever caused the initial reaction. Poison ivy skin problems can be alleviated with the use of Calamine lotion or oatmeal which will help to draw out the poison that causes the reaction in the skin.

Types of Skin Problems: Psoriasis is another common type of skin problem which occurs in men, women, and children. It could appear after a strep throat infection for the first time and it might vanish for a bit, but long periods of mercy from psoriasis are rare. Most who suffer from psoriasis find it to be a lifelong battle unlike many other types of skin problems which tend to go away in time.

Types of Skin Problems: Acne is another skin problem. Acne is caused when pores are clogged with dead skin cells or oily cosmetics which cause inflammation in the surrounding skin. It is extensive in the face, neck, shoulders, chest, and back. Acne primarily happens in adolescence because during puberty, the pores on your face and body expand dramatically. There are many different treatment options available for this type of skin problem ranging from over the counter topical solutions to prescription medication.

Types of Skin Problems: The most serious of the different types of skin problems are tumors. Tumors can be either benign or malignant. Benign tumors arrive as moles and warts and sometimes grow out of control. Malignant tumors may seem to start out the same way but they are cancerous. The most serious type of skin cancer is melanoma. A melanoma starts as a mole it itches and or starts to be sore, gets larger, crusty, and bleeds. A melanoma can be flat or raised and it can be any size or color. In other words, a mole that has changed in appearance or grown needs to be examined. It’s best to have skin cancer diagnosed in its earlier stages because it’s easier to cure at this time.
