Vintage Window Treatment: Turn Your Vintage Silverware into a Window Treatment

A vintage silver window treatment is the perfect way to display a collection of vintage silverware or heirloom silverware that is just gathering dust in a drawer. Many people will own silver coins and have no need for them. If you’re like me, though, you might not be interested in these neat little pieces of family history.

This easy to use Vintage Silver Window Treatment is the perfect treatment for a back kitchen, dining room, or even a home office.

If you have tons of vintage silverware left over, then try making this simple window treatment with them.

My favorite feature of this window treatment is made from Vintage Silverware so you can easily display your large collection of heirloom silverware in a fun new way.

To make a vintage silverware window treatment you will need:

Silver Harvest or Heir Silver (Their Lot)

2X6 one, cut to fit your window

Primary

To paint

Paint Brush Sand Paper

50 Power Training brackets

Glue (epoxy of hot glue)

The first step is to measure how hidden each of your windows is. I like to make this Vintage Silver valance about 5 to 6 inches on each side, but it’s up to you.

You will also need two pieces of the same cut board about 4 to 5 inches wide. These will be the sides of your strength.

Now, screw through the front ends of the long board, and fix the two sides of the shaft. I like to drill these holes and then put in my screws so the boards don’t split.

Now, with your sand, lightly treat the whole wood of the window.

Paint primer, such as Kilz.

Let it be dry first, paint the coat. It helps to portray this health that you will be able to see behind Vintage Silver.

This is a great time to introduce an accent color into your room. You could also paint this panel the same color as your walls, if there is any wall left to paint.

The paint is now dry.

Measure across your board with your tape measure. It helps to make a mark every inch or so to get my silver evenly.

You could get away with dots every 4 or 6 inches at a time. You must agree that you want your Vintage Silver to be developed evenly. If you are worried about how many pieces of vintage silver will fit in the valance, then start by punching in the middle of the valance and work your way left and right until you reach each end.

Now you can attach the heirloom silver with hot glue or epoxy glue. Hot glue will allow you to remove the silver when you need it again or you simply want to remove it. Epoxy glue will be more permanent.

Now use your L hooks to Vintage Silver valance hanging on the wall. I like to put one L bracket at the end of the left valance, and one on the right side of the vintage window valance. Try to screw in a piece of wood if possible.

Do this for every window in your retro or vintage kitchen and you can really show off your vintage banking collection.

You can also hang the curtains of this Vintage Silverware window valance from the inside by using a tension rod in the middle of it. The wood of the bricks will easily bear the tension of the fortification rod.
