Ventura, California is a beautiful coastal community that has worked for many years to attract more tourism. Located just south of California’s 101 Freeway, Ventura is about 90 miles from Los Angeles. Although it has grown over the years, the city of San Buena Ventura, with its endless history, retains an irresistible charm. Home to a number of charming hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts, Ventura is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway for just two, or a Family Vacation Retreat.
Founded in 1782 as the site of twenty-one California missions, Ventura has many wonderful historic buildings and landmarks to visit. At the top of the list is the mission itself. Located in the beautiful city of Ventura, the mission draws frequent visitors. You can go inside the church, walk the grounds, and even visit the attached gift shop.
In the closest mission, you will find two historic buildings. The Ortega Adobe, 215 W. Main St., is about a fifteen-minute walk from the mission. If you walk straight to the ocean from the mission, along the road where the fountains are located, you will find the Santa Clara Santa, immediately on your left, TERRA No. 78 Restaurant. This restaurant has an interesting history and is also famous for being haunted! Uda or not, it is a beautiful structure both inside and out.
It’s part of the upcoming Ventura, so it’s a fun weekend to explore. From the mission to the library, you’ll find historic buildings, restaurants not to be missed, and promenades and alleys lined with wonderful unique shops. Although I know everyone, there is still a certain “feel” of old Ventura throughout the whole country of his country.
As you venture down Maine Street, across town, be sure to check out Ventura’s grand theater at 26 Chestnut St. The Ventura Theater is the first and oldest theater in Ventura.
Go down to the beach (that’s amazing about Ventura, you can walk everywhere!), and visit the Ventura Pier, the same year the city was founded, in 1782. a significant restoration in 1993, and is the location of Erik Erikson, the premier Ventura maritime restaurant.
About a 15 minute drive out of town, near Ventura Harbor, you’ll find another magnificent historic structure, the Olives Adobe. Located at 4200 Olives Park Drive, the Olives Adobe was built in the mid-1800’s and is also rumored to be haunted! (Did we remember that Ventura has a lot of ghosts?)
BEST PLACE TO VISIT
At the beach, of course! Ventura has great beaches. If you want to watch the surf, take a walk up to the northernmost beach in Ventura, a place known as Surfer’s Point. No matter which beach you visit in Ventura, you’ll love what you find.
The port of Ventura is also very popular with both locals and tourists. With many fantastic restaurants great restaurants, and even a gallery with a carousel, Ventura port. it has something for everyone.
The area is coming to some city weekend. Lined with original shops, restaurants you won’t want to miss, and a Downtown 10 Movie Theater, the downtown area is an incongruous Ventura destination. most flattering You will not miss it.
Supper
One of the best things about Ventura, especially for visitors, is the huge variety of restaurants. There’s no shortage of great food in this city, and you can’t go wrong with just about any place you want. Especially good restaurants are Mexican food restaurants. But there are also excellent choices for Chinese Food, Seafood, Steak, and Pizza. Ventura is one of those places that has very good food all around. Some local favorites are Andrea’s Seafood in Ventura Harbor, Corrales Mexican Restaurant on Thompson Blvd. (anyone they ask, they point you in the right direction), and Just BBQ (formerly Buster’s BBQ – a Ventura legend in tri-tip), located at the end of Johnson Drive, in the parking lot of the Century Theater plaza. .
HOSPITALITY
The city also came without a lack of great hospitality. Catch a rock concert at the grand Ventura theater, enjoy a comedy night at Armigerus Comedy (especially if you try Seafoo Andrea, located across the parking lot from each other!), or Bombay Bar & grill
If organized family entertainment is what you are looking for, you can catch a movie, roller skating at Skating Plus, bowl at Buena Lanes, or try your hand at miniature golf at Golf’n” Stuff. Ventura also has entertainment very suitable for , including a number of very popular orchards, Chuck E. Cheese, and Pump It Up.
SHOPPING
The weekend area is far away, the most fun place to shop. However, Ventura Harbor is an excellent shopping destination as well. If you need a man, Ventura Pacific View is a very nice tour.
WHERE TO STAY
For hotels that offer a close beach location, try Cliff House Inn, Pierpont Inn, or Holiday Inn>. If you are looking for a bed & A dining experience, the Brakey House overlooks the ocean, and the Spa is located in the old Aromata Sea Spa in the center of the country at 50 N. Oak Street.
No matter where you stay, or what you choose to do there, Ventura is a wonderful place to visit.
