trails in A.W. there are two defined hiking in A.W. Marion Park. Trail one (Guido) is relatively short, easily less than a mile, but passes some nice foliage and other scenery. The second trail (Hargus Lake) circles the lake in a 5 mile loop. This trail is quite difficult with a small stream crossing, it is not a problem for hikers, but it can be strenuous for the young (or their parents) and the elderly. A.W. Marion State Park is well used for picnicking by visitors because of the picnic areas near the lake. An added bonus for surfers is that there is a picnic area located on a small island in the lake. The island also offers a great structure for fishing around.

For those looking to stay overnight, A.W. Marion State Park offers over 60 camping sites, about half with electricity. There are no shower facilities or flush toilets however. Restrooms are available for campers and other visitors. There are ice boxes and machines and a shoe pit near the campground. A small concession stand located near the boat dock also offers drinks, snacks and some other things. The campus was not very full during my visit, and I suspect that it would be difficult to find a place during the week of public holidays. For those missing full claws an adjacent privately owned campground can meet your needs.
