I am a native of New York, who enjoyed doing many things in the city as a child. Here is a list of fun, affordable things to do with your kids while visiting New York City with your kids.
1. Visit Ferrari in NYC’s Little Italy. It has a gorgeous, casual, kid friendly place with gorgeous display cases full of beautiful, affordable desserts and gelato. It’s a good place to stop for a break during a busy sight seeing day, and the kids will enjoy looking at their cases well. Most of the cookies and crackers can be ordered individually and many versions are small enough for kids.
2. Pearl River in NYC Chinatown is a “Chinese department store, but not at all like Bloomingdales. Crowded and unorganized, you can often find beautiful things here for very affordable prices. As a little boy, I adored his pajamas. It’s a wonderful place to take the kids for affordable, unique New York necessities like fans, dolls, and Chinese slippers, all for a few dollars each. If you have visited the Berry River on previous trips to New York City, please note that it has been recently moved and is somewhat more detailed than before.
3. In NYC’s Central Park kids will have a lot of fun with the Alice and Wonderland statue just north of the lake and the toy boat run (it’s also there stand large ice cream – blackberry try blackberry). 6. Take the Staten Island Ferry. It’s cheap, and you’d be surprised how much kids love boats. It’s also a good cheap way to see the lower Manhattan sites without getting off one of the expensive cruises.
7. New York’s Yankees! Full seats are only $10 – $15, and can often be purchased at the last minute (same as upper deck seats which are around $20 ). It is a great old stadium, and if you can go early you can go to the onsite museum. For days, the out-of-town team calls the stadium to inquire about the field trip. It seems ridiculous, but as the marketers say, “nothing is the first thing to do with the elders”.
8. South port street. Go ahead and watch it here especially during the holidays. Yes, it can get really crowded, but the area is great for sightseeing, eating and shopping for a wide range of reasons. This is also one of the oldest places in New York City and it is important to know the history of the city.
9. Horse and coach through the Central Orc. I used to do this with my parents a lot as a kid picking it up. The most magical days of the holidays. This is, of course, less cheap than some of the other New York City ideas I’ve shown, but a short ride for a group is still probably cheaper than going to the movies.
10. Follow rides in Prospect Park. You can book a ride through this beautiful Brooklyn park at Kensington Stables, one of the oldest continuously operating stables in New York City. Their rates are affordable, and they offer elephant rides for children too young to ride in vehicles.
11. Eat late night New York City has many nice restaurants that are open 24 hours. Children love the opportunity to linger and feel fancy. Make sure you sleep well, and go to the Odeon, the French Asso or something similar.
12. The New York Museum of Science in Queens is really cool, and easy on the subway. Even adults still dig it, but it’s geared specifically for kids.
13. The Museum of Natural History. Dinos! Rocks! Place! You can’t shake it here
14. New York City Transit Museum. Impediments through the ages, what more shall I say?
15. The Museum of the City of New York would be the right choice for pre-teens and up if it included how people lived in the city throughout its development.
16. Central Park Zoo is a treatment because it was reformed according to the Bronx Zoo. Both are great, the other is Central Park, smaller but easier.
17. The great circus is a one-ring old-time circus formed around the city from time to time. . It is very important to be pregnant and pregnant.
