Everyone wants to be star. You can tell by the number and popularity of reality shows that offer the contestants the chance to become a famous singer, model, or actor. Among them, two of the most popular are American Idol and America’s Got Talent, wherein U.S. residents compete to become the next pop vocalist (America’s Got Talent allows entrants to compete in many categories, but the last three winners have been vocalists). If you have notions of being the next pop star, it is important to take voice lessons; singing in the shower simply does not count as training. There are a number of different firms that offer voice lessons in Brooklyn for aspirants of all ages:
Encore Music Lessons
The instructors from Encore Music Lessons are trained in a wide-range of vocal styles – from rock and jazz to Latin and gospel. They offer music lessons to children and adults of all ages and genres, and customize their contracts to offer convenient classes at an affordable price: the schedules are flexible and can take place at either the teacher’s studio or a student’s residence. While it was founded in New York City, Encore Music Lessons, rather than being a Brooklyn based firm, matches students with teachers in their network in states across the country, as far away as Texas and California. Their official site is here, and features a directory of teachers in the Brooklyn area, who serve a wide-variety of Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Musika
Musika has a similar set-up to Encore Music Lessons in that they match teachers with students of all ages across the country through website or by phone. Like Encore Music Lessons, they too offer voice lessons at either your home or at their studio. But unlike the aforementioned firm they also offer introductory classes, so that students can get a sense of the instructor and his or her teaching style. They offer recitals to students of all levels after their lessons so that students can show off their newfound skills. They also serve a wide variety of neighborhoods including Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Bergen Beach, BoCoCa, Boerum Hill, Borough Park, Brighton Beach, Brooklyn Heights, Bushwick, Canarsie, Carroll Gardens, Clinton Hill, Cobble Hill, Coney Island, Crown Heights, Cypress Hills, Ditmas Park, Downtown, DUMBO, Dyker Heights, East Flatbush, East Williamsburg, Flatbush, Fort Greene, Fort Hamilton, Fulton Ferry, Georgetown, Gerritsen Beach, Gowanus, Gravesend, Greenpoint, Greenwood Heights, Homecrest, Kensington, Manhattan Beach, Marine Park, Midwood, Mill Basin, New Utrecht, Ocean Hill, Ocean Parkway, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Park South, Red Hook, Seagate, Sheepshead Bay, Stuyvesant Heights, Sunset Park, Williamsburg, and Windsor Terrace.
