Cleveland has so many organizations that are there to help others. I took the time to research these organizations and see what they are doing to help the greater Cleveland area.
I first looked into a group called Mind Matter. They are an organization that helps high school students from low income families achieve academic excellence and gain admission to college. The Cleveland chapter was founded in 2008 and has over 120 volunteers. Students who helped with writing improved their critical thinking, math and sat skills. 100 percent of students helped with admission to summer college programs.

Cleveland Mayor Volunteers has been around for 40 years and recruits 18 individuals and serves over 150 non-profit organizations. They actually work with you and based on your interests, skills skills and time available, help you find a salary. We feel and appreciate your service to the community.
HandsOn Northeast Ohio is an organization that was founded in 2007 and aims to engage individuals from Northeast Ohio in volunteer opportunities to serve the community and to strengthen community involvement with non-profit building work.
Business Unlimited is a volunteer organization that supports both business and non-profit organizations in many different capacities. They also strive to work with non-profit organizations to build their volunteer base, as well as consulting on board building and management for groups that need help. BVU encourages businesses, employers and members of the community-at-large to help support all the areas have to offer.
Prosperous Cleveland is the convention and visitors bureau for Cleveland, Ohio and is a wonderful force to draw volunteers for their organization and everything they do. If you’re in Cleveland for food, theater or some sightseeing, this is the place to go. The Cleveland Foodbank is always in need of volunteers. The primary food banks in the Greater Cleveland area, and groups, individuals and organizations are here to help in their provide services . In 2011 they employed over 10,000 volunteers, this saved them from hiring 26 full time staff members with salary and benefits to take it millions of dollars and brought back into the community and shared some valuable services to thousands of people.
The University Hospital System is the largest hospital system here in Cleveland, Ohio and they are always looking for volunteers in so many areas of the hospital from pediatrics, geriatrics, teen volunteers and pals.
Finally, I located the Cleveland Metroparks, which provide recreational, educational, and various opportunities every 16 years throughout the park. There are community support groups, student and scout groups as well as school groups.
There are so many ways for men, women and children to volunteer in Cleveland and make a difference, just look at your place of worship, school or local community organizations, you will find a place for your time and talents.
