When opening my mail, I seen that I had received a strange email from Capital One. The email looked like any other email except that I don’t do business with capital one and yet they are claiming that I need to log into my account and enter my personal information to make sure that I am who I say I am. I know who I am and it isn’t my problem that they don’t know who I am.
I became curious about this suspicious email from someone who was claiming to be Capital One so I did a search using Google and went to Capital One’s website. I found a nice little help button that would allow me to send an email to the companies branch. Within a few days I received a reply from the workers at Capital One. They said that the email would be further investigated to find out where the email came from and hopefully who was sending it out. They also told me to never click on a link that does not have Capital One in it. I already knew this. I know that you should never click on links unless you know where they are from and you should never enter personal information on a site that you are not sure if they are a secured site.
I noticed that the Capital One scam had not only been sent to my email address in Yahoo but it had also been sent to all of my other email addresses. I knew that this was a scam from someone who was claiming to be Capital One because I have different email address set up for different things and only one is for my business accounts.
This is the email that was sent to me including the link that was in it.
