Weber Smokey Joe Silver Grill Review

Weber Charcoal Grills. The very name of this company can inspire anger and love in different people. Many grill enthusiasts swear by Weber grills, and many love other brands like Jenn-Air or BBQTek. The purpose of this review is to provide an honest (sponsor free) review complete with every detail, pros and cons of the Weber Smokey Joe Silver Charcoal Grill.

At first glance, one can immediately recognize Weber’s simplistic attitude and the “back to basics” grilling mindset that Weber is known for. The Smokey Joe Grill boasts a 14.5 inch diameter cooking surface making it a more convenient home grill for the family, but insufficient for large parties and tending events .

There is no way to “seal” this grill for easy transportation, and that’s what matters to me personally. Convenience is king in the modern grilling age, and if you don’t have a way to easily transport the grill, the benefits of having a “back to basics” grill are quite a bit. This is something that was left over during the manufacturing process of this grill and Weber has frankly failed me since then. However, if you are not going to carry this grill, this is a small circumstance for you, so that the inconvenience is almost ignored.

For further inspection, the Weber Smokey Joe Silver Grill lacks a large space between the coals and the meat, making it a virtually hands-free grilling experience. This is not a grill if you can “set it and forget it” like fat burning foods if you do. As it is, there is a positive for this very moderate interval between the coals and the food. Ever wanted a quick burger? Need your steaks blackened? The Weber Smokey Joe certainly succeeds in this style of cooking, and quite honestly I have not seen any charcoal grill in my grill that compares to the amazing performance of the Weber Smokey Joe. Fast forward to Acres synonymous with Smokey Joe’s Grill will remain in the mind.

Finally, one of the main selling points of this grill is how economically sound it is straight out of the box. Although not quite for large meals, this Weber Charcoal Grill performs decently while using a minimal amount of charcoal briquettes. With the rise of gas prices charcoal is still a great option for grilling. Weber takes this a step further and boldly steps in to minimize the amount of charcoal briquettes needed to cook a well-prepared meal.

In summary, the Weber Smokey Joe Charcoal Grill offers a decent, bare-bones if modest grilling experience. Any serious grilling fanatic would probably be confused with the purchase of a weekly grill, but the everyday outdoor camping fanatic is going to love this grill. Tight, compact and really does quite well for the price. The key term there being “for the price is the price”. If you’re grilling on a budget, the Smokey Joe Silver Charcoal Grill has got all your essentials covered, with none of the frills.
