The WiiKey 2 is perhaps the most advanced Modchip for the Nintendo Wii. Wii modchips allow you to play out-of-region games, and games to help protect your collection (before using the WiiKey, the first Twilight Princess game got battered and battered so it was unplayable). You can play DVD copies of your games, allowing you to keep the originals in good condition.
Installation of the WiiKey 2 is supposed to be a breeze. For it was mine. The problem, however, is that Nintendo has changed the layout of the circuit inside the Wii, making it more difficult. The WiiKey claims compatibility with the DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C, D2C02, and D2E chipsets – each combination of these letters has something to do with the extension circuit in the middle of your Wii. The only way to find out what type of system you have is to find your Wii’s serial number and look it up, and most of these pages are maintained on volunteer boards. If you own a WiiKey II, you probably won’t care, though, because it’s compatible with most genres. Generally, the older your Wii the easier the installation.
One important consideration is the art of solidification. This is because I received the Wii-Clip v14 file and already integrated it with my WiiKey. It’s attached to the right place, though, so it uses a lot of electrical tape so you have to hold it, even though it’s supposed to fold snuggly – there’s not a lot of space inside the Wii either. to become I ordered my WiiKey 2 through modchipcentral.com, as the official distributor of the WiiKey protocol. I also have it with the added solid part of the already solid WiiKey. I’ve had a Wii since its first release, so I had a very simple installation – simply snapping the part into place after opening my Wii, and using an electric motor to use it didn’t accidentally come off.
So far the WiiKey 2 has worked well. I made a copy of Twilight Princess on DVD-RW, which works perfectly with no noticeable difference in game play. My Wii did, however, seem to little loudly inserting the drive chip, but I believe it should not be a problem. So far, after 72 hours, it still works wonderfully. I was able to play the game that I received from Japan without a problem and they are light.
Overall, the WiiKey 2 is a great option to protect your games for life. But always be sure to order from a reputable company that is listed as an official distributor.
