World’s 5 Largest Fish Statues Designed as Tourist Attractions

Sportsmen are known to talk about the great one who got away. In some towns and cities across America, however, the big fish never leave. They stick around for tourist attractions. Here are five of them:

1. Walleye Giant Walleye

If you want to see a giant mural, head to the governor of North Dakota. Once there, Wally ran out of oil. It is the largest walleye in the world. Wally is 26 feet tall, weighs a whooping 820 pounds and hangs out in City Park in Vico. Wally is not the only game-related attraction that will be your attention in the Castle of Anger. the city is also the home of North Carolina Dakota Fishing Fame and the famous fifteen-foot-tall shooting ace, Big Gene.

2. Wahpeton Catfish

Do you prefer to watch a huge catfish? Then show your crowns to Wahpeton, North Dakota. It is home to a 40-foot-tall, 12-foot-tall behemoth known as the Wahpper. It weighs 5,000 pounds and sits on the Dabill Road.

2. National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame

Englishmen with a sense of humor and a smile will want to miss at least one trip to the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, Wisconsin. It is home to a series of giant fishnets including a 143-foot-long mossy one that stands 41 feet tall and can hold 20 people in its mouth at one time. Other large fish catches at the site include bluegill, a smallmouth-bass and perch. The museum also exhibits a notary dedicated to Hermann Worm. Herman is the only worm that I know of that has ever appeared on The Tonight Show.

3. Nevis Noble Muskie

Looking for a moment humongous Tiger Muskie? You might want to plan a trip to Park City in Nevis, Minnesota. It is home to the world’s largest Tiger Muskie. You can find it next to the Heart State Trail.

4. Port Stanley Perch

The town of Port Stanley, Ontario is home to a large pole statue. You can find Stanley Perch Harbor on the north shore of Lake Erie. There are many others in the area as well. Of course fishing is one of them. Boating, golfing and camping are two others. You can find out more about the area online.

5. Big Fish Supper Club

Instead of just standing on the ground and admiring the giant fish, why don’t we walk inside and enjoy a fish dinner? You can do that at Big Fish Dinner in Bena, Minnesota. She is a 65 foot long muskie shaped building. The building was also featured briefly in the National Lampoon Vacation movie. It is open Tuesday through Sunday and cabins are available for users who want to stay overnight.
