Wreck Beach: A Clothing Optional Beach in Canada

In the Pacific Spirit Regional Park in British Columbia, Canada, there is an area of the beach that stretches for a length of about 6.5 kilometers. This beach, known as Wreck Beach, is considered to be one of the world’s largest clothing optional beaches. Wreck Beach lies at the base of a cliff, and the trail leading to the beach consists of about 400 wooden steps. However, don’t worry, the beach is clearly marked to avoid any confusion and embarrassment for those not comfortable with this type of sun worshipping.

The part of Wreck Beach at the base of Trail 6 is the most popular. It is not uncommon to see black market vendors
selling items from sunscreen to clothing to alcoholic beverages to marijuana. Regular users of Wreck Beach think nothing of joining the practicing nudists in the different activities while spending some time at the beach.

One would think that just because Wreck Beach is an optional clothing beach, you would see only adults there. That
is not the case. It is not unusual to see whole families enjoying a fun day at the beach. The property of Wreck Beach lies adjacent to UBC. (University of British Columbia) Many of these students spend their free time at Wreck Beach merely as observers. Others come to participate in the fun.

There is no running water at the beach and the toilets are primitive. The regulars that are aware of this will usually bring their own. Only a few times over the past several years have the health authorities issued warnings that the beach was too contaminated for swimming.

There are so many activities to participate in at Wreck Beach. You could spend the whole day at the beach and not do
anything twice. Below are listed some activities to enjoy while at the beach.

* Enjoy the unique food and beverages offered by the vendors.

* Kids can get their face and bodies painted for free, only with the permission of their parents. Adults are asked
to donate to the Wreck Beach fund.

* There are volleyball games going on all times of the day. All you have to do is find a game that will match your
skills and ask to join. You will always be welcome.

* Do some juggling, play bocce ball, beach croquet, mahjong, checkers or scrabble.

* Take a walk towards the beach and listen to the birds singing as they fly around you.

In other parts of Wreck Beach, you may also see:

* Nesting Herons

* Sea lions

* Kingfishers

* And once in a while, a bald eagle

People fishing fully clothed also find it comfortable sharing their space with those going all-natural.

In the late afternoons, and into the evenings, relax to, dance to, or join in on any one of the variety of music and
rhythms that help to make up the beauty and sounds of the nightlife on Wreck Beach. Some of the music and rhythms
being offered for your enjoyment are:
