Yankee Candles VS. PartyLite Candles

The aroma of a fresh candle is one that will surely put some people into a relaxing state of mind. Many people love the smell of candles and will spend a lot of money on various scents to put themselves into a nice trance. Instead of yoga lessons, meditation class, or massage appointments, people enjoy candles to bring a sense of calmness over them. Just by staring at a candle in a dark room while envisioning positive thoughts, people are brought to a place of tranquility that cannot be denied. Many people love to use candles to set the mood for a romantic evening as well. You often see romantic movie scenes with candles in the background, such as in the proposal scene in the flick ‘Serendipity.’ The flame of a candle just seems to trigger intimate feelings. Family gatherings or holiday feasts are another way to utilize candles. The cozy feeling that presents itself while candles are glistening in the background is often recognized by all. If you are looking to purchase a candle, two of the most popular types of candles on the market are Yankee Candles and PartyLite Candles.

Yankee Candle has been around since the year 1969 when a young man by the name of Mike Kittredge from South Hadley, Massachusetts crafted his mother a candle by using the wax from a crayon. Yankee Candle now has over 15,000 store locations in the United States and internationally. Yankee Candle has won numerous awards including one from Forbes naming the company as one of the ‘Best 200 Small Companies,’ in the year 2002. Just imagine a smell, and Yankee Candle is sure to have it in the form of a candle. PartyLite Candles have been around since 1973 and are sold only through ‘candle parties,’ that are put on by PartyLite consultants in people’s homes. This company is also New England based but also provides products internationally. This company does have a plenitude of candles and accessories, but nowhere near the variety that Yankee Candle presents to customers.

The Yankee Candle wick is made from pure cotton. You would not find any traces of lead or other contaminants in this product. The burn time of a Yankee Candle 14.5 ounce jar is 65-90 hours. The PartyLite Candle wick is made from unbleached cotton as well. The burning time of a PartyLite Candle 14 ounce jar candle is 55-60 hours. The cost of a Yankee Candle 14.5 ounce jar is $19.99. The cost of a PartyLite Candle 14 ounce jar is a bit more expensive. To find out the definite price, you would need to be in contact with a PartyLite consultant.

I adore Yankee Candle for numerous reasons. If you live or visit the New England area, the Yankee Candle Flagship store is a must see attraction. It provides the feel of Christmas all year long with hands-on opportunities to dip your very own candles. I also have over ten favorite fragrances from Yankee Candles including White Chocolate Mint and Vanilla Caramel. The aromas fill your house with rich and succulent smells. Also, Yankee Candles are very easy to purchase. You can either visit your local mall or go online. What I dislike about Yankee Candles is the black soot remnants that it leaves behind on your walls. When my husband and I lived in our apartment, I constantly burned Yankee Candles. After moving out, we received a call back from our landlord stating that we would not be receiving our $700.00 deposit back due to the soot stains left on our walls. He told us that he could not simply paint over them and had to go to a local hardware store to purchase some powder detergent to help remove the soot stains. The landlord said that the labor and materials needed to rectify the situation would not allow our deposit to be refunded. Needless to say, I brought his attention to the contract that did not state anywhere that people could not burn candles, or that tenants would not be refunded their monies if such a problem occurred. We did receive our refund back after several meetings.

The PartyLite Candles burn much cleaner. You do not see the black soot stains left behind on walls or on the rim of the jars. For this reason, I love these candles as well. It is much harder to find PartyLite Candles and you cannot simply go online and order one if needed. I have also noticed that the variety is limited, and they do not smell as strong as Yankee Candles. You would need to be in contact with a consultant and go from there. For convenience purposes, I do favor Yankee Candles over PartyLite Candles. Now I just don’t burn the candles as often to avoid getting soot stains on my walls.
