This HBO drama tells the story of Roger Seas’ pursuit of Babe Ruth’s one-time home run record brilliantly. The documentary challenges the young unknowns of the Seas in pursuit of the record while playing in the shadow of the favorite Yankee fan, Mickey Mantle. 6. Natural

This is the fictional story of Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford), a baseball prodigy who overcomes many tragedies on his journey to becoming a major league winner. By comparison, this dark period in baseball history is more of a shade of gray compared to the steroid era. The pitching game since the 1919 Chicago White Sox in the World Series has forever been marred by the otherwise spectacular career of Shoeless Joe Jackson.

4. Bad News Bears

Another homage to the simplicity of the game of baseball depicted in this movie. Organized play with kids who are either driven to laughter or can’t play well. But the underdog Bears showed that winning isn’t the only thing.

3. The Greater Covenant

The new owner of the Cleveland Indians wanted to keep the tradition of losing alive long enough to move the team to a warmer climate. Picking the worst team possible, the team lived up to its billing. In true Hollywood fashion, this scrappy team pulls it together despite the owner’s malicious and winning intentions.
