The absence of an illness identity does not guarantee health, happiness, success or satisfaction in life. The present, however, cannot bear his duty.
Most clinicians, in their daily contact with people who come for help, hear a lot about labor problems. There are rarely issues related to the type of work. Often, depression and stress is caused, at least in the patient/client’s presence, by the current supervisor who they feel is being treated disrespectfully and unfairly. When job and clinical skills do not include changing someone who is not in the job, focus on helping the person cope as much as they can with the situation public
Having worked in many situations for years and heard from hundreds of my clients, friends and colleagues about the problems they experience in the workplace, it seems reasonable to accept this supervisors and managers who have significant mental health issues of their own, who are intentionally or unintentionally causing harm and harm to them as a watchdog. . There is really no social or legal regulation of this matter. Employees with high resilience can do well with supervisors who have a bad mindset with suspected invincibility (ability to bounce back from a bad situation or experience) can be pushed out of their jobs and/or into a mental health clinic with their self-esteem completely destroyed.
The most common mental health issues an officer can manifest that are apt to cause trauma to his staff 1) Present Narcissistic Personality Disorder (“I’m totally wrong. If you disagree with me, there’s something wrong with YOU.”); 2) Insecurities that manifest as “control” issues, where the employee is micro-handled beyond the point of casual irritation; it is in the hands of man, when there is little knowledge or true knowledge distracting them, wandering or rebellious.
Job stress can be caused by many different things, but the actions of the manager’s mind are certainly among them.
The fire created in the life of the worker, by the work of a supervisor who seems to fit into one or more of those groups, tends to expand the work and into all other aspects of the worker’s life. Stress and discomfort at work can literally metastasize like cancer and invade all other areas of life.
Relationships at home with friends are broken. The ability to enjoy recreational activities becomes an asset. Sleep and appetite can be affected. In short, a work force driven by the actions of a mentally ill supervisor can push an employee in the direction of developing a depressive or anxiety disorder!
It’s not a joke. Clearly, a key role of senior management is to monitor and oversee the variables that middle managers bring to the job.
