Almost three years ago I wrote a review about the Applebee’s here in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. At the time, the restaurant had just opened and, after eating there on two separate occasions, my review was completed in less than a second.
After three years it is fine. And, I can honestly say, a lot has changed in three years; Applebee’s my opinion too.
Let me start by saying that I still think their prices are a bit on the high side for a family of four now living on one income. Yes, there is still no restaurant, I will dine on a weekday or even monthly basis; like on special occasions (like this past Valentine’s Day) or when it happens to be a gift card. But, when that rare special occasion rolls around, I really can’t think of a better place to celebrate.
One thing that hasn’t changed at Applebee’s in the past three years or since I ate at one time several years ago is the food. While it is expensive, as I said, it is worth the money. And, unlike many restaurants, I can say that about almost everything on the menu; whether it’s a steak or just a cheeseburger. The food tastes great and the portions are quite generous.
But what struck me recently about the Beaver Dam Applebee’s is this work. It used to be that we would have to get there by Friday night wait a long time for a table and even longer for our food. And, on very few occasions, we would have a worshiper who is rude or wants to ignore us all at once.
I’m not sure exactly what changes were made. But the restaurant has improved in all these areas.
As I said before, my wife and I went to Applebee’s on Valentine’s Day. More specifically, we went there on the Friday night before Valentine’s Day; it’s a night when you think the restaurant is somewhat busy.
And it was. But, really full, we only had to wait to sit for about 10 minutes; which I feel is more than reasonable considering not having a reservation.
Once we were seated, the service remained fantastic. Our server was friendly and very helpful (although this was trying to get me a card when I ordered Mountain Dew). He was there to check on us every minute and even offered to refill my drink before it was even half empty.
Better yet, we didn’t have to wait forever for our food. We got our starters (mozzarella sticks) probably 10 minutes after we ordered them and the rest of our food was on our table another 10 minutes later. Since he was busy with this, the time was reasonable.
Three years ago I was unhappy with this restaurant and I still stand by that review. But, today, I recommend this institution to anyone who is interested.
