Its become bikini weather again and going to the beach or pool to stay cool is a must. Everyone wants to look good in a swimsuit, especially new moms. Having a flat stomach and keeping your tummy trim, particularly after having a child, is a steady process of routines and exercises done on a consistent regular basis. Here are a few exercises that have worked for me after my two pregnancies to keep a flat stomach after the delivery.
1. Stretching is important in developing a sleek and sexy muscle tone instead of masculine bulk. Start out slow and work each part of your body individually to get the best results. I begin with the head and neck, then move to the arms, and then continuing all the way down to my calf muscles and ankles. Varying your range of motion will begin to increase the range and your personal limits after time. When stretching your legs sit facing a wall and see how far apart you can spread your legs while keeping your feet flat against the wall in front of you. Gently and slowly keep adding pressure as you push against the wall and see how far you can keep stretching your legs. In time you will be able to do a kick over your head or even stretch your leg up beside your head like the flexible dancers and gymnists.
2. Crunches are a good alternative to sit-ups for people with back problems; and especially helpful for women with strained back muscles from carrying their child. These exercises put a lot less stress on the lower back and allow a new mom time to recuperate.
3. Sit-ups are an old and reliable method of keeping a flat and trim stomach trim, but after having a child this can be difficult or even a strain on the stomach and pelvic muscles. These combined with crunches and stretching can be most effective when used in moderation, and not right after giving birth. There should be a period of about 2 weeks of rest before trying to adopt a new or strenuous exercise routine.
4. Belly dancing combines stretching, cardiovascular exercises and stomach trimming movements all in one. With graceful hand motions and rhythmical gyrations of the hips, belly dancing is a very sexy choice of exercise especially if your spouse is nearby so you can give them a little bit of a show.
Exercising by itself will not be enough to give you that flat, trim stomach, proper diet is just as important a factor. Taking in too many calories and not getting enough exercise, or burning the calories, can lead to undesirable weight gain. Do be careful not to overexert yourself when working out or you could end up pulling a muscle and end up being sore for days after. Alternate working out the different parts of your body on different days, don’t try to work out your whole body at once. Start with your arms one day and while they are healing the next day, try working out your calf muscles or tummy instead. This gradual process of trimming your body will give you the sexy sleek figure that all of us desire.
