Cannabis Cookery CI: Green Butter

Why would anyone eat cannabis when they can simply smoke it? There are many reasons. The respiratory issue is one reason. Living in a smoke-free environment is fun. Enjoying the buzz is yet another reason. The thing is, you can’t just cut a gem and expect it to do the trick. One of the best ways to prepare edible cannabis is to make green butter. Here’s how:

First, gather a few everyday kitchen items. Tomorrow he needs a large brass lid, a time treated Wooden Spoon, or an electric coffee/spice grinder, a large bowl, a stick of cheese and a sealing vessel to store your green butter. The drugs are simple: water, unsalted butter finished and crushed dried cannabis. If you use strictly bud, the ratio is about 1/4 ounce of cannabis to 1 stick of salted butter. If you are using leafy cannabis, use 1 ounce of herb to 1 stick of unsweetened butter. You can use vaped cannabis to make green butter, and you can use 1/2 ounce of vaped bud for 1 stick of unflavored butter. Here are the instructions in recipe form;

Green Butter (water method)

Fill a large saucepan 3/4 full of water
1 stick of unsweetened butter
1/4 oz to 1/2 oz of chopped dried cannabis

Effervescing water rolling in the tide. After the water is boiling, add heat to heavy and unwrapped Unsalted butter stick. While the butter is melting in the water, place your herb in the coffee grinder, put on the lid and put it down in a few quickspins. The end result is to grind the dried cannabis into a slightly coarser powder and much finer than if you rolled it. When the butter has melted into the water, add the chopped ground cannabis and stir gently with a long handled wooden spoon.

Bring to a slow boil over high heat and stir occasionally for at least three hours – longer is better, up to six hours. If the water level decreases, add a cup or two of water. The water must be discarded at the end of the process and THC (the active ingredient in cannabis) will not dissolve in the water.

Make a place in the vase. Turn off the heat under the pan. It allows the pan to be refrigerated for an hour so it doesn’t melt on your refrigerator rack. When the pan is relatively cool to the touch, place it in the refrigerator and allow the butter to solidify and separate from the water. This will probably take at least another hour.

Once the butter has solidified, place the cheese over a large black bowl and hold the friend in place< /a> or use a large rubber band. Once the cheese is securely attached to a large bowl, slowly pour the cannabis mixture over the cheese. If the bowl is full, pour the water from time to time pouring the cannabis mixture through the cheese, slowly. After all the water has been removed and the butter has solidified in the cheese, arrange the edges of the cheese over the cannabutter to wrap it. Leave the water and gently squeeze out any remaining water from the butter. Unwrap and place the Green Butter in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator or freezer for up to six months.

Green Butter can be used in any recipe called butter or margarine. Spread on hot toast or use to saute like scrambled eggs. Green Butter needs a bit of heat to be most effective, so use your discretion and however you use it, enjoy!
