Offering an exotic environment and wonderful décor, the Red Room is a great spot on Glenwood Avenue for sharing delicious tapas and Spanish wine. In addition to having a lovely outdoor patio, the entire restaurant is extremely stylish and sophisticated, perfect for a nice night out on the town in Raleigh.
During my recent visit to the Red Room, it was nice to see that they still have a friendly staff there, who strive to offer great service. Although this was not a date, my friend Matt and I took advantage of the “Date Night” special last Wednesday. For $39.95, the meal included 4 courses of tapas, and half glasses of Spanish wine paired with each course. We were in a celebratory mood for Cinco de Mayo, so we also ordered a nice pitcher of pomegranate mint sangria to taste.
In terms of the price, the meal was a great deal because the food was good, the waiter was excellent, and he made great suggestions regarding the wine and sangria. Regarding the food, this particular time I would say it was great. While I enjoyed all of the courses the final two were the best. My friend Matt thought all of the food was incredible. In the future, I will probably order the chicken and shrimp paella from the regular menu, which I have eaten in the past, and it was delicious.
The best part of dinner included the grilled chicken breast, which was quite flavorful and had a nice overall presentation. For dessert I definitely enjoyed the Red Room’s famous fried banana. Stuffed with chocolate, the yummy fried dessert is served with vanilla ice cream and a delicious caramel sauce. It certainly does not disappoint. Matt only ate a few bites of the dessert, so I ended up finishing off the rest for both of us.
