The 6 Characteristics of Mental Maturity

Have you thought about your mental health lately? Maybe you should! Have you ever taken the time to think about just what aspects of your personality determine whether or not you are psychologically healthy?

A guy named Gordon Allport (1897-1967), who is known for his remarkable advances in psychological theories related to personality. and other issues, the characteristics of a healthy, mature personality.

According to Allport, a mentally healthy individual will exhibit proactive behavior. This means that not only do they act on their environment, but they will act on their environment in such a way that their environment can act on them. In other words, you don’t just drift passively through life, you make waves.

Allport identified six criteria for mental maturity:

1. Extension of the sense of self

This means psychologically healthy individual, interest in the activities involved in work, play and work, develop recreation They want to identify themselves with greater things. They have healthy interests in family, friends, and/or other social groups.

Do you want to participate in activities, questions, or events that strengthen social life and are not based on you?

2. Warm about himself

Psychologically healthy people are able to love others in a compassionate and friendly manner without being possessive or selfish. They can relate and enlighten with others, have a healthy sexual relationship and do not use others for personal gratification. Contentment, blaming others, is a sign of mental immaturity.

How important are the needs of your loved ones? Can you love your partner without being possessive of them?

3. Emotional security/self-acceptance

I feel that this criterion may have been broken in two, but it is still very believable. This characteristic surrounds the ability of the individual to accept themselves for who they are and engage in vibrational movements. This is the concept of rationality to their lives and the events they encounter throughout the day.

Do you love yourself? Can you deal with minor irritations and backs without feeling like your life is falling apart? Do you make mountains out of molehills?

4. Real perception of the environment

We can all think of at least one person who doesn’t seem to be aware of their situation. This is the most common characteristic in teenagers. people don’t live in a fantasy world and they don’t bend reality to suit their needs. They recognize their problems and situations for what they are. Nor do they add unnecessary drama to the situation.

5. Inspection and humour

Mentally healthy people are aware of their mistakes, faults, limitations, etc., and do not attribute short-term issues and weaknesses to others. They can admit their mistakes and laugh at themselves.

6. Unifyphilosophy of life

He describes this life, which may or may not be based on religion. It is believed that life has an end. According to Allport, without a unifying philosophy, insight would be futile and their humor cynical.
