The Hudson Valley is famous for its wine trails, but with so many wineries to choose from, it’s hard to narrow down the list to a few good to the best wineries in the South. Although all wineries in the region have something to offer, Warwick Valley, Demarest Hill and Palaia are among the best. Each has its own charm, and differs only from the last.
Warwick Valley Winery- This winery is the perfect place to relax on a lazy afternoon. When the year is open, autumn is the best time for picking apples and pears. These are the same apples and pears that have won Warwick Valley’s award winning Doc’s Draft Cider- cider thus placing it among the top five in the world The New York Times put it nicely. More like wine than beer, it is made from apple cider, other apples, and champagne yeast completely gluten free. It comes in three different flavors, Apple, Pear, and Raspberry, all the more delicious at the end.
Their wines are free as well. A six wine tastings (including taking home a glass with the name of Warwick Valley) is only five dollars and I You can’t visit this winery without buying a bottle of the black clay red.
Warwick Valley encourages you to buy a bottle to accompany your lunch from the cafe. The owner’s wife is a Culinary Institute graduate and always finds dishes that pair well with their wines, ciders and spirits. Recently, I enjoyed brick oven gorgonzola, caramelized onion, and grape pizza from a crazy price case.
Visit Warwick Valley on the weekend ahead to enjoy the live music and family atmosphere.
Demarest Hill Winery– Another winery to visit in the Hudson Valley is Demarest Hill Winery- If not for wine, it offers beautiful mountain views. Wine really sticks in a house where you wouldn’t believe there is a garage.
Rob, having a taste of the military, convinced me that they were old friends. It allowed you to try a variety of wines, for only five dollars with a glass included, with 32 wines to choose from.
He was impressed with the specialty wines that Demarest Hill produces. Perfect for summer, peach wine, strawberry wine, cherry wine, apple wine.
Also, an Italian man, Frank, owning and making wine and liquor at Mount Demarest, it only makes sense to be able to buy it. For a classic Italian after-dinner drink, drink some Limoncella or Balsamic, which Demarest Hill boasts is the best vinegar in the United States.
The other is to retire to Demarest Hill, because unless the weather is quite pleasant outside, there is no place to sit at home and enjoy some wine or liquor that has been bought. Therefore, to visit in winter, it is best to stop here only for a taste and then continue in the wine cellar, which offers food or entertainment.
Palaia Vineyards- Palaia Vineyards is the hippie wine of the Hudson Valley. Decorated with to-die-for black and white images and tie merchandise, this ski lodge meets the feel of Ben and Jerry’s.
One of the perks of this tasting was that Palaia offered gourmet-friendly dips such as spinach and spinach for purchase. Outside the Palace was a tasting room with tables to enjoy wine and appetizers. decoration and lighting of this room suggests a lounge atmosphere. During my visit, four members of the guest band are taken in this room. Unlike Warwick Valley Winery where the focus was on conversation with music as the most beautiful subject, at Palaia, the focus is on music and wine.
Much closer to the New York State Thruway and the Palisades Parkway, this winery is the perfect last stop before heading home for the night. .
