Trader Joe’s is a really fun store. I always seem to end up buying a new product; either new to me, or a new set of things. I bought Trader Joe’s brand of Organic Creamy Hazelnut Soup. I love soup and am always game to try a new brand or flavor. My grandfather, who also loved soup, used to say, “You raised your kids in soup.”
This is in Tetra Pak packaging to help keep fresh. Once opened, the shelf life is about one year; attempts to manufacture and expiration dates. Once opened, you can keep it in the refrigerator for seven to ten days.
It gives you 32 fluid ounces with four containers of one cup (8 ounces) each. Buy the low sodium version, which is only 140 mg. (Especially compared to regular Campbell’s Tomato Soup, which has 1,420 mg of sodium per equal serving.) Each serving has only 90 calories, 30 of which are from fat. This soup is high in Vitamin A and Potassium. The package displays it as gluten free.
I admit, the color of the food was a little unclear, like orange, like carrot juice, and not red. The consistency was perfect in the semi-thick state.
Good taste; The tomato flavor was definitely present and creamy. But the sauce is very soft. I wanted to doctor it by adding a small portion of freshly saltsalt, freshly ground black pepper. and cayenne pepper and incredible flavor!
Value packed at only $2.49, this is a great buy.
Bottom line: Recommended.
