You’ll need the flippers to get any farther at this point. Once you have 500 rupees, head for Zora’s Falls in the very northeast corner of the map – the path is near the witch’s hut and blocked by a boulder you can now lift.
Follow the north water path until it forks in three directions to the east and take the lower path to meet Zora. After buying the Flippers from him, swim down the waterfall south of him and then head west to the heart piece on the island. After leaving Zora’s Falls, swim to the Waterfall of Wishing just to the left. Throw your shield into the Mysterious Pond and the fairy will give you the Magic Shield. Throw your boomerang in to get the Magic Boomerang.
Now get the third bottle from the guy under the bridge south of the East palace. Follow the river south of the hills to the ledge you can jump off, then swim back the other way under the bridge. With all that done, it’s time to head for Death Mountain.
The cave to Death Mountain is north of Kakariko Village, east of the Lost Woods. Lift the boulder to get in the cave and go east until you meet the old man who will join you. He will guide you through the rest of the cave. Once you exit onto the mountain, watch out for the falling rocks and the little monsters that turn to stone when hit but not destroyed. The old man will enter the cave to the south and give you the mirror. Follow him in there and take the path behind him to get to the next level – it’s pretty simple.
On the second level, go west and take the long stairway to the next level. You’ll see three spots in front of Spectacle rock where you can jump down; jump down the second gap at its far right edge and enter the cave on the ledge you’ll land on. You’ll find a heart piece on the second floor of this cave. Jump down off the ledge outside the cave and head back up to the third level. When you see the blue gateway east of Spectacle Rock, step into it to enter the Dark World.
There’s nothing you can do about the whole turning into a bunny thing, but the creatures you meet there can tell you how to stop it later. Stand in the valley that’s similar to Spectacle Rock and use the Mirror, and you’ll return to the Light World on top of the rocks. Get the Heart Piece that’s right there, then jump off the north end of the rocks and you can reach the Tower of Hera.
The biggest task in the Tower is using the orbs that control the risen pegs in the floor. The boomerang is best on these. Take the stairs to your left and get the key, using the orbs to clear your way. Go back downstairs and go north, get the map in the chest, and open the door in the corner to go downstairs.
You’ll have to deal with those darn flying tiles again in the next room; once they’re done and the door opens, use the orb there to get through. Continue until you get to the dead-end room with the four torches and light them all to find the chest with the Big Key. Return to the entrance (the Mirror will get you there immediately) and take the up staircase.
The best way to take out the squid monsters is to throw pots at them or knock them down the pits. Head for the room with the Big Key door; if at pit blocks your way to the door, step on the star on the floor to change it. The same can be said in the next room to get to the stairs. Before you go up, make sure the orb has been hit so the blue pegs are up.
On the next floor, get the compass in the small chest and go up the next staircase at the far left. On the fifth floor, watch out for the firebar and step on the star so there is a small hole near the top of the room. Drop down the hole and you’ll reach the big chest with the Moon Pearl. Return to the fifth floor. There are hearts under all the pots near the last staircase. Refill your life meter before going up to face Moldorm.
Moldorm can only be damaged by hitting his tail. Use your spin attack for the most damage. The most difficult thing about fighting him is that if you hit him anywhere else, it will send you reeling backwards and you could fall down the pit, causing you to have to climb back up and start over. He also moves faster every time you hit him. One he’s defeated, you’ll get another heart container and the Pendant of Wisdom. You now have all three pendants.
